Multivitamin supplements

Vitamin supplements for children and adults, made to meet the various nutritional requirements according to different age groups. A dose contains 100% RDA of all vitamins.

The right amount of vitamins is important for our body to be healthy.
Vitamins are macronutrients that human body is unable to synthesise and that, consequently, must be introduced by means of a varied and balanced diet.

Funk Casimir, a Polish-born chemist, coined the word "vitamin" (from the German vitamin), which, not surprisingly, literally means "vital amines"; initially, therefore, it was used to indicate essential substances for sustaining vital activities.

Each vitamin or group of vitamins, plays a specific role for the proper functioning of the various activities of the human body and any deficiency can foster the development of various, more or less serious problems.

Among the main functions of vitamins are:

  • supporting the proper functioning of the immune system (folic acid, vitamin C, A, B6, B12 and D);
  • favouring the nervous system function (biotin, vitamin C, B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12);
  • supporting bone (vitamins C, D and K) and vision (vitamin A and B2) health;
  • counteracting tiredness and physical fatigue (folic acid, vitamin C, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12).

Under "normal" conditions, a balanced diet should be sufficient to ensure all the nutrients that our body needs.

However several factors like stress, overwork, intake of drugs, unbalanced diet, smoking, diets too drastic and overcooked food, can promote deficiency states.

In all circumstances where it becomes necessary to supplement vitamins, multivitamin supplements may be very helpful.

These products are usually designed to meet one's body specific needs according to the age group (the RDA of children and teenagers during the growth stage is obviously different than that of an adult).

It should also be noted that the RDA does not indicate the maximum dose that can be taken of a given substance, but the minimum amount necessary to our body to maintain a state of well-being.
