Pure iodine

« Lack of iodine in the diet predisposes to goiter, which is a disorder of the thyroid gland, which directly and indirectly controls many body functions. One of the effects of thyroid dysfunction [severe hypothyroidism] is cretinism.
Goiter is the most common sign of iodine deficiency. Enlarged thyroid is an attempt to produce adequate amounts of thyroxine [thyroid hormone] and can be avoided by taking the right amount of iodine. As iodine shortage worsens, however, the patient may expect sexual apathy, loss of mental reactions, dry and brittle hair and general lethargy.
The thyroid gland regulates body metabolism, which means it determines the speed with which we burn fat. If your metabolic rate is too slow, you may experience symptoms such as sluggishness, glassy eye, obesity and laziness. It follows that the presence of abundant iodine in the diet may make a huge difference for each individual.
The thyroid also plays an important role in the regulation of body temperature . If you usually have cold extremities, if in Winter you are forced to wear far too heavy clothes, if you tend to gain weight easily and find it difficult to lose it, then you may lack some iodine. We have good reasons to believe that even acne is due to thyroid disorders. Iodine requirement is high in adolescence when the body grows rapidly. Mental health, ways of speaking, hair, nail, skin and tooth health, everything depends on the proper functioning of the thyroid gland and this by the amount of iodine that you take.
Lack of Iodine plays an important role in the process of hardening of the arteries [atherosclerosis], in people aged 50 and over.
During pregnancy, the body requires a much higher iodine amount than normally. If you do not receive iodine supplementation, after childbirth you will suffer from obesity and/or menstrual disorders of various kinds. Animals deficient in iodine have difficulties in childbirth and in breastfeeding.
When sweating, or following physical exercise causing profuse sweating, you should taken a certain amount of iodine. Some sea water splashed on our fields may help raise the average level of intelligence and fitness…. If the soil is deficient in trace minerals, the products that are grown there will be so too» [1].
