«Orally, Andrographis is used to prevent and treat the common cold, the flu, the pharyngo-tonsillitis, allergies, sinusitis. It is also used as an antiseptic, analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, antithrombotic, expectorant, anthelmintic and tonic.  Some clinical investigations have shown that taking an extract of Andrographis, in combination with Siberian Ginseng [Eleutherococcus] orally, can significantly improve the symptoms of the common cold, this combination relieves the symptoms of a cold better than Coneflower. Preliminary clinical research suggests that taking Andrographis as prophylaxis [prevention] could decrease the risk of developing a cold by 50%… Some clinical trials show that high doses of Andrographis are comparable to paracetamol after 3 to 7 days of treatment to reduce fever and sore throat, associated with pharyngo-tonsillitis » [1].
